Several members from our Post serve on the All Veterans Honor Guard!
This dedicated team of men and women from several VFW Posts and American Legions in our area volunteer their time one day a week to honor our fallen Veterans and give them the honor and final farewell they deserve. This team will provide the fire rounds, play Taps on the bugle, and the Chaplin delivers the final eulogy to our nation's hero as he/she is laid to rest. They are a flexible team and will provide other services as needed.
There isn't a typical day for this amazing team, as they can serve at 1 funeral and have served as many as 11 in one day among 105 degree heat, or as the picture above shows... in the snow. There aren't any elements that keep this team of Veterans from performing this honor for a fellow Veteran. On average they attend 210 funerals per year, or 4 per day. You might see them in the canteen after their duties are complete and they are full of gratitude that they could be there for their fellow Veteran and his/her family. These men and women are selfless individuals who live and breathe Honor, Respect and Commitment.
We are proud of our post members! Thank you for your service to our Veterans!
Jim Flanagan, Sr., Joe Schiel, Warren Tellgren, Roger Waufle, Gary Wyckoff (Aux).
